TRYP HOTELS: Intro to Cities: São Paulo
Actual copy:
This is my São Paulo. This is my TRYP.
In sheer size alone, the metropolitan area is staggering. With over 11 million Paulistanos, the city of São Paulo is one of the largest in the world, and certainly the largest in South America. As the economic and cultural center of Brazil, waves of immigrants have brought a mix of cultures and cuisines that are reflected in the restaurants, theatres, museums, opera and dance companies. Think of it as the Manhattan of the Tropics–on steroids! But don’t let São Paulo’s epic size overwhelm you. Let TRYP’s city connoisseurs help you discover a world of fine dining, world-class museums, high-end shopping and non-stop nightlife.
Along Avenida Paulista, the city’s principal promenade, check out MASP, Sao Paulo’s largest fine art museum, featuring an important collection of Brazilian artists. Then head for Ibirapuera Park, the city’s major green space, visit one of its museums or just chill amid the trees and fountains. Go for happy hour in nearby Itaim or Vila Olímpia, and don’t miss drinking a Chopp, a cool as ice draft beer, in one of the several botecos, very low-key neighborhood bars, with seriously relaxed service and atmosphere.
Power shoppers can spend the day on Rua Oscar Freire, the city’s version of Fifth Avenue. Pick up an outfit for a night at Love Story, one of the hotter dance clubs (but after 2 am, please!) — because ladies and gentlemen, Paulistanos not only like to shop up a storm but to dress up as well, so in this city, bring your A game!
